Abstract:
Based on interviews with young Jews in Hungary today, focuses on their Jewish identity. These children of Communist Party activists wished either to camouflage or to ignore the issue of their Jewishness, but it was forced upon them by the environment which was more or less pervaded by antisemitism. Some reacted by experiencing trauma or by rejecting of the truth. Notes the continued existence of popular antisemitism among the rural population in Hungary.
