Abstract:
Argues that the Holocaust theology embodied in Wiesel's "La nuit", unlike its original Yiddish version, shifted from witnessing history to a kind of revisionism - i.e. the Holocaust, seen as primarily a matter of theological concern, is an event of such magnitude that it transcends history. Transcending history, though, is a tricky business. Theology removes the Holocaust from the real world. Notes the obsession of Holocaust deniers with Wiesel, whom they see as being a false witness to the Holocaust.
