Abstract:
After a campaign for a U.S. boycott of the 1936 Berlin Olympic games failed, the pro-boycott faction of the Amateur Athletic Union, together with the Jewish Labor Committee, held a World Labor Athletic Carnival in New York as a protest against the antisemitic sports policies of Germany and the acquiescence to them of the International Olympic Committee. The movement for a body of workers' sports failed, but it helped the pro-boycott faction to depose Avery Brundage from the AAU.
