Abstract:
Since the Holocaust, the question whether anti-Judaism is present in the New Testament or has been read into it by later interpreters has become the subject of heated argument. Explains the allegedly anti-Jewish and anti-Torah passages in the Gospels as reflections of an inner-Jewish controversy which is historically conditioned and not metaphysically valid for all time. The Christians who wrote the New Testament, and Jesus himself, saw themselves as Jews whose innovations brought them into conflict with traditional Jewish institutions. Genuine Christian anti-Judaism developed at a later period.
