Abstract:
Hasdai Crescas, philosopher, exegete, community leader, illustrates the difficulties and precariousness of the Jewish elites at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, a period characterised by the general hardening of the condition of Jews in the West. The aim of this article is to show the narrow line on which evolves this man of the 'in between', invested by the power with eminent functions and committed to restoring the confidence of his co-religionists in a context of strong incitement to conversion. His Refutation of Christian Dogmas will support the analysis.
