Abstract:
Argues that Paul’s real attitude to Jews and Judaism is to be found in his epistles to the Gentiles, in which he dissociates himself completely from his own Jewish past, echoes Gentile (pagan) anti-Jewish prejudices, and asserts that Judaism has been superseded by Christianity. The much-quoted pro-Jewish pronouncements in his Letter to the Romans are diplomatic rhetoric meant to win the support of the Jewish-Christian Roman congregation.
