Abstract: Polish writers living abroad (focuses mainly on Jewish writers in the U.S.) could write more freely than those remaining in Poland about themes such as the Holocaust, including collaboration of Poles, and about postwar Polish antisemitism. However, writers in Poland also wrote on these themes, even during the Holocaust itself, as well as in the postwar years, and especially since the 1980s. Touches on fictional and non-fictional works by many writers, both in Poland and in the U.S. also mentions two Polish-Jewish authors who write in English: Jerzy Kosinski and Eva Hoffman.
