Abstract:
Reprints, in French translation, Cyril of Alexandria's commentary (in "Glaphyra in Genesim") on the biblical episode of Cain and Abel, focusing on how the 5th-century Greek bishop of Alexandria identified the Jewish people with Cain, and Jesus with Abel. This allegorical interpretation became part of the Christian anti-Jewish tradition and legitimated the persecution of the Jews. States that today, Christian theology and exegesis have denounced this interpretation, which transforms the victim into the executioner.
