Abstract:
Remarks that Proust used the Dreyfus Affair in his literary works as a public event with vulgar reflections in the world of politics and mass culture, both opposed by Proust to true art. In his "A la recherche du temps perdu" and "Jean Santeuil, " representation of the Affair takes the form of a multiplicity of stories. Points out the antisemitic tendencies of the narrator in the description of Bloch, a Jewish character, perceived in the spirit of the antisemitic stereotypes widespread during the Affair. Bloch is considered to be a projection of Proust's own Jewishness, noting that it seems that Proust's half-Jewish origin became an embarrassment to him in the antisemitic atmosphere of the Affair.
