Abstract:
This study concentrates on the developing political solidarity of Anglo-French Jewry with Moroccan Jews from the creation of the first school of the Alliance Israélite Universelle (AIU) in Morocco (1862) until the end of the Madrid Conference (1880) in which Morocco and the European powers - whose influence on the country’s political and economic directions was significant - deliberated, among other things, on the status of the Jews. The emphasis here is on the demonstration of support for the Moroccan Jews manifested by French Jewry through the AIU and by Anglo-Jewish organizations, notably the Anglo-Jewish Association (AJA), and the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
