Abstract:
From July 1939 to 1956, the Israeli poet Uri Zvi Greenberg did not publish poems in Yiddish. However, the Holocaust did inspire him to write four poems in this language; they were published for the first time after his death, in his volume of complete works in Yiddish, under the common title "Tsu der mamen". Presents the original Yiddish texts and a Russian translation of these poems. Suggests that they were written in the late 1940s, at the same time that Greenberg was writing his epic "Rekhovot ha-nahar". The poems speak about his homesickness for his mother and the place where he grew up, which are gone forever. He most probably refrained from publication of these poems because they might have spoiled his image as a poet and prophet speaking in the name of the people of Israel.
