Abstract
Achsah, the wise daughter, disappointed at the dowry she received when she was married to Othniel, acts cunningly, doing what she can to modify the situation. She demands outright a gift from her father that will constitute a supplement to the dowry more appropriate than what she has already received from him. Within the framework of providing his daughter with a dowry, Caleb seems to have had the right to grant her real estate.

Aksâh, la fille sensée, déçue par la dot qu'elle reçut lorsqu'elle épousa Othniel, renversa cependant la situation par une habile manoœuvre: elle demanda carrément à son père un dom complémentaire, bien plus approprié que ce qu'elle avait reçu précédemment. Par le fait d'accorder une dot à sa fille, Caleb paraît avoir le droit de lui conférer un réel droit de propriété.

Achsa, die kluge Tochter, war enttäuscht über die Mitgift, die sie erhielt, als sie mit Othniel verheiratet wurde. Durch einen schlauen Schachzug hat sie dann allerdings ihre Situation verändert. Unverblümt fordert sie ein Geschenk von ihrem Vater, das als Zugabe zur Mitgift weit angemessener ist als das, was sie bereits von ihm erhalten hat. Im Rahmen der Mittelbereitstellung für seine Tochter scheint Kaleb das Recht gehabt zu haben, ihr wirklichen Grundbesitz zu gewähren.
