Abstract: The Encyclopaedia of Judaism provides a full and reliable account of the religion, Judaism, beginning in ancient Israelite times and extending to our own day. About Judaism, the religion, its diverse history, literature, beliefs past and present, observances, practices and world-view, and place in the context of society and culture, this is what we know. All principal topics required for the systematic description of any religion, the world view, way of life, theory of the social entity constituted by the faithful are addressed here. In all cases information is set forth in historical and systemic context. Therefore facts take on meaning and produce consequences. The table of contents identifies the topical program, and two elaborate indices make the contents immediately useful for finding quick definitions of facts, persons, places, things, events, practices, and the like. The work speaks to anyone interested in religion, in understanding what religion viewed through the example of Judaism is, and in comprehending the difference religion makes in general. It is written for people of all ages and backgrounds and not only for specialists in the subject or practitioners of Judaism or any other religion. No special pleading for or against religion in general or for Judaism or any particular viewpoint therein finds a place in the pages of this work. Nor is there room here for partisanship within Judaism. The religion, Judaism, is represented by the entire range of Judaic systems of belief and behavior put forth over time and in our own times.

The interviewees are Evgeny Kissin, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Zubin Mehta, Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Toby Perlman, Michael Haas, Elyakim Ha̷etzni, Norman Lebrecht, Margaret Brearley, Paul Lawrence Rose, Leon Botstein, Daniel Barenboim, Yirmiyahu Yovel, Uri Toeplitz, Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, Jaques Stroumsa and Alice Sommer Herz.

Abstract: You may not know Eva Zeisel yet, but you know her work. 'Throwing Curves', the documentary by filmmaker Jyll Johnstone and Canobie Films, explores the life and art of a brave & willful woman who conquered the 20th century with curvilinear style to become one of the most famous industrial designers of the modern era. Working primarily in porcelain and ceramic table-ware, Eva Zeisel's pioneering work introduced her trademark sensuous curves to mass-production. With over 60-plus years in the field Ms. Zeisel is one of the best-selling tableware designers of all time and her highly-collectable designs have literally changed the face of modern design in the 20th century. 'Throwing Curves' explores Eva Zeisel's 95-year life-journey, from her birth in Hungary in 1906 through her career working in all the hotspots of design, including Berlin in the 20s, the Soviet Union in the 30s, and New York in the 50s. The film interweaves her design work with her dramatic life-history, which includes being imprisoned in a Soviet prison, escaping the Nazis and setting up a new life as an immigrant in post-war New York City. Finally, in a testimony to one of America's earliest "super moms", the film explores the tension between modern motherhood and a career in the arts. "Throwing Curves - Eva Zeisel" is a lesson in longevity and perseverance. At age 102, Eva Zeisel is still creating, and the film finishes with a look at her latest work in the new millennia. "Throwing Curves - Eva Zeisel" is the first of a documentary film series that explores the lives of three 85-plus women still actively engaged in creative lives.

Abstract: Die vollstaendige Arbeit der Kuenstlerin Charlotte Salomon (1917-1943) wurde vom Joods Historisch Museum auf CD-ROM herausgegeben.
