Abstract: Created by Sayed Kashua, an Israeli-born Palestinian journalist, Arab Labor (translated from the Hebrew "Avoda Aravit", which colloquially implies "shoddy or second-rate work") focuses on Amjad Alian, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen in search of his identity. Poking fun at the cultural divide, Kashua and his characters play on religious, cultural and political differences to daringly depict the mixed society that is Israel. This show marked a milestone on Israeli television as the first program to present Palestinian characters speaking Arabic on primetime, and it generated great controversy between Arab and Israeli media.

Abstract: The series (whose title in colloquial Hebrew carries the implication of "shoddy or second-rate work,") focused on the family and work situations, of Amjad, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen. Much of the comedy is derived from the paradox of Amjad's love-hate relationship with his Arab identity and his simultaneous wish to integrate comfortably into Israeli society. Poking fun at the cultural divide, Kashua's characters play on religious, cultural and political differences to daringly depict the mixed society prevalent in Jerusalem. The show marked a milestone on Israeli television as the first program to present Palestinian characters speaking Arabic on primetime. Arab Labor has generated great controversy but, nevertheless, has managed to be internationally successful.

Abstract: Spectacular rare archival film footage of Palestine in the tumultuous 1920s forms the heart of this documentary by Israeli filmmaker and scholar Ya'akov Gross. Considered lost for more than 70 years, these early films taken by Ya'akov Ben Dov, the father of Hebrew cinema, depict settlements and activities in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Rishon le Zion and Old Jaffa; visits by Albert Einstein and Winston Churchill; the funeral of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda; and early Zionists who pioneered the Third and Fourth Aliyahs. A vital and accessible look at a formative period in Israeli history. Dreamers and Builders includes material from three rare films by Ya'akov Ben Dov: Return to Zion (1920-21), The Rebirth of a Nation (1923), and Romance of Palestine (1926) - preserved in a joint project by the National Center for Jewish Film and the Israel Film Archive.

Abstract: This landmark documentary celebrates the pioneering labors of early Jewish settlers in Palestine. With striking visual compositions and a remarkable soundtrack by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the film records the technological and agricultural accomplishments of the pioneers and extols the idea of a socialist Jewish state. Footage includes shots taken at the Jaffa port, in Tel Aviv, and on various kibbutzim of the time; Strasbourg-born director Lerski's expressive style creates an almost mythic image of the Jew in Palestine, toiling and triumphing amidst the sweeping desert landscape.

Abstract: 1940. Musik: Stefan Dimitrov Kamera: Georgi Nikolov Buch: Yuri Dachev und Ivan Nichev Regie: Ivan Nichev Sturmbandführer Lothar Straube - Bernd Michael Lade David - Georgi Georgiev Georgiev Else - Simona Ivanova Stoykova Dimi - Alexander Morfov Morfov Zarah - Elena Jorova Petrova Sami - Vassil Krastev Vassilev-Zueka und andere
