Abstract:
In the 1930s, Nazi agents directed Afghan foreign and economic policy. Since the Jews lived almost entirely by foreign trade, they were seriously affected by Nazi-inspired measures. Fanatical Muslim masses accused them of ritual murder and of cursing Muhammad. In 1935, rival Indian traders in Kabul were incited to riot against the Jews. The Mufti, Haj Amin al-Husaini, on a visit to Kabul instigated by the Nazis, preached for a "Holy War". However, the threat to Afghani Jews ended with the British-Soviet invasion of Iran in 1941.
