Abstract:
Compares the attempts to boycott Israeli university academic and research personnel to the Nazi boycott of Jewish faculty members by their non-Jewish colleagues. Focuses on two British initiatives in 2002 that gained some European support. Claims that this anti-Israel move is aimed at making Israel into a pariah among the nations. Recognizing the limited scope of these efforts, worries that they may gain international support. Notes the double standard involved in singling Israel out for criticism, and the paradox of boycotting Israeli left-wing academics who are themselves critical of their own government.
