Abstract:
Presents the history of the Jewish Military Union and its participation in the Warsaw ghetto uprising in 1943. The Union was a militant Zionist-Revisionist group organized in 1942 by members of the Betar movement. Presents the organizational structure of the Union, its commander David Apfelbaum, its armaments, and its relationship with Polish underground groups and with ŻOB. Deals, also, with the Union's activities up to the uprising in April 1943 and the members' participation in the uprising. Most of the Union's fighters were killed during the uprising, including Apfelbaum. Discusses, also, controversies in historical works concerning the Union.
