Abstract:
The armistice between the Allies and the Italian government was signed in September 1943. Up to that date, the Jews in Italy suffered from racial laws and discrimination, but they were not deported to concentration camps Non-Italian Jews were placed in internment camps. But after the armistice the German Army immediately occupied northern Italy, where it fought against the Italian troops there, as well as in southern France and in the Balkans, and the German occupation administration began to deport the Jews to the East.
