Abstract:
Sets in context a speech delivered by Göring to assembled Gauleiters and district governors. Pp. 382-401 contain the stenographic transcript of the speech, preserved in the Moscow State Archives and here published for the first time. Göring discusses the measures being taken by the national government to exclude Jews from the economy and to force their emigration, and warns against independent initiatives by party and local officials. Jews must be allowed a reasonable minimum for subsistence, their emigration must not be impeded, and acts arousing unfavorable publicity abroad must be avoided. Profits from Aryanization must go to the national treasury and not into private pockets. Crimes committed during the "Kristallnacht" pogrom will be punished if the motive was personal gain or sadism, and not ideological.
