Abstract:
Many works of Polish literature from the 16th century on have dealt with Jews. Polish writers tried to depict the Jews as part of mainstream Polish life. Dwells on three works of literature on the theme of the Holocaust in Poland: Borowski's collection of stories "This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen", Andrzejewski's novella "Holy Week", and poems by Miłosz. Notes that the Jewish image in Andrzejewski's work is ambivalent, and that the whole story, although condemning antisemitism, affirms the superiority of Christian ethics over the Jewish - which has been traditional for Polish literature dealing with Jewish issues.
