Abstract:
Focuses on the attitude of the weekly "Ha'olam Hazeh" and its editor, Uri Avneri, toward the Eichmann trial, noting that it was the only periodical that opposed the trial and criticized the Israeli government for holding it. As an anti-establishment paper, "Ha'olam Hazeh" had criticized the government during the Kasztner trial in the 1950s. In the 1960s, while praising the kidnapping of Eichmann, it declared his trial a failure due to the interference of Prime Minister David Ben Gurion. It claimed that the Eichmann affair was political, criticized the trial process, and declared that it should not have been held in Israel.
